About me

I grew up in a small town near Rotterdam, and the techno bug found me in the nineties the way it found most people then, through a sound system in a room that was too loud and too dark to think straight in. That was the end of thinking straight about music. I have been finalizing audio since the late 2000s, which means by now the obsession has had time to turn into something resembling expertise. I studied Sound Engineering and Music Production. But the real education happened in rooms, on dance floors, behind turntables.

My approach to mastering is not neutral. For the music I work with, transparent processing often translates to flat, that feeling that something essential went missing between the session and the file. I am not interested in delivering something correct. I am interested in delivering something that feels right in a room, on a system, at volume. That is why analog processing runs through almost everything I do. Hardware adds a quality that plugins can approximate but never quite reproduce.

The DJ years matter more than they might seem to. Playing records for rooms teaches you things that no amount of studio time will. You learn what music does to people when it actually reaches them. Not how it measures. How it lands. That understanding sits underneath every decision I make at the mastering desk.

I monitor on a Kii Three system. Not because the spec sheet demands it. Because after years of listening on many different speakers, these are the ones where I stopped arguing with what I heard and started trusting it.

Beyond the studio, I genuinely love what I do and the people around it. That energy is hard to miss, whether I am behind the decks, deep in a session, or just talking about music. This has never been about personal accolades. It is about the music, the artists, and the communities built around it. That is what keeps me pushing, learning, and showing up, every time.
